Gifted Education
“The success of education depends on adapting teaching to individual differences among learners” (Snow, 1982).
Students, grades kindergarten through twelfth in the Oglethorpe County School District, who demonstrate a high degree of intellectual and/or creative ability(ies), exhibit an exceptionally high degree of motivation, and/or excel in specific academic fields, and who need special instruction and/or special ancillary services to achieve at levels commensurate with their abilities are provided with special instructional services through the Program for Gifted Students (Definition of Gifted Student, Gifted Education Procedures Manual)

Statutory Basis for Gifted Education
The following resource provides authority and specific requirement for gifted education in the state of Georgia:
State Law
This section of Georgia law states that children who have special education needs shall be eligible for special education services. Special education, according to Georgia law, includes children who are classified as intellectually gifted.
