Social Emotional Learning Support
Oglethorpe County Schools partners with the Cook Center for Human Connection and their Mental Health Resource Center for support for Oglethorpe County families and staff members! This is a free and confidential website resource, ParentGuidance.org.
This site was developed by licensed therapists that provides trusted and specialized courses, professional support, and a safe community for families to learn how to support your child. Families can also get answers to mental health questions, especially anxiety, depression, self-worth, grief and loss, suicide ideation, self-harm, bullying, family strife and other mental health concerns.

Free Monthly Mental Health Series:
The Mental Health Series are virtual events designed to provide valuable support and insights at no cost to you. Ask a Therapist Live is included in the Mental Health Series events. This is your chance to get expert answers to any question you have about your child’s mental health or your parenting journey. You can submit questions anonymously in the webinar chat or through the interactive tools - or you can just listen to other parents ask questions and hear the answers our live therapist shares.
Free On-Demand Courses and Well-being Resource Library
There are over 70 e-courses, free to families in English or Spanish, which are led by licensed therapists as well as an ask-a-therapist section on the website. The courses above will provide you with tools to form stronger bonds with your children.
What does SEL look like in our school district? Social Emotional Learning, like everything we do in Oglethorpe County, is accomplished through a team approach. We work in each school to meet the needs of the students, families, and adults in that school. Our team starts with our Superintendent and includes counselors, principals, teachers, parents, and other key players that help support the emotional and learning needs of our students. We conduct groups with students, work with parents on issues related to school and learning, help support the MTSS team, work to support our teachers and administration, and share relevant and up to date resources.
