Health Services

Oglethorpe County School System is committed to promoting good health habits and a safe learning environment for every student, every day. Below are guidelines and resources to help our families keep every classroom healthy.

  • Eat a good breakfast — it gets our bodies fueled up and ready for the day.

  • Bring a water bottle to school and refill it throughout the day. Choose water instead of sodas or sports drinks.

  • Wash your hands several times during the day. Good handwashing is the best defense against illness.

  • If your child has a condition that spreads easily to other students (for example, impetigo, pinkeye, chicken pox, flu, or lice), please contact the school nurse before sending your child to school. If your child develops symptoms during the school day, the nurse may ask you to pick up your child, and in certain instances a doctor's note may be required before returning to school.

  • Please make sure your contact numbers are up to date in PowerSchool so the school nurse can reach you in case of illness or emergency.
