The Oglethorpe County School System has launched a formal search for its next superintendent. The position is now posted on the district website, and applications will be accepted through January 23, 2026.
This search follows the announcement that Superintendent Beverley Levine will retire on June 30, 2026, after more than 38 years of dedicated service to the Oglethorpe County School System. Board Chair Rebecca Soto noted that this leadership transition represents an important moment for the district.
“Finding the right superintendent is one of the most important responsibilities we have as a Board,” Soto said. “The Board of Education is committed to identifying the next remarkable leader—someone who will carry forward a spirit of service by leading with humility and always placing the needs of students, staff, and the community first.”
The Board of Education has established a clear timeline for the search process. Applications will be accepted through January 23, and Northeast Georgia RESA is assisting with the superintendent search. As part of the process, a Superintendent Search Input Session will be held on Thursday, January 15, at 6:00 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. This session will provide an opportunity for staff, parents/guardians, and community members to share input on the qualities they would like to see in the next superintendent. For those unable to attend, a survey will also be made available.
